A care agency worker contacted us expressing concern about the poor recruitment process by their management team, a lack of understanding of conditions of employment and poor quality of training for staff.
We shared this information with the Head of Adult Services at Shropshire Council. She then commissioned Shropshire Partners in Care to survey local Domicilliary Care Agencies on the fair cost of care. Included in this survey were questions relating to their understanding of employment law and staff training requirements. This led to a number of agencies attending a training session around their legal duties as employers. It is hoped that this training session will be rolled out to other agencies who require more knowledge around this subject.
