Midwife Led Maternity Services - choice of birthing location
Healthwatch Shropshire was involved in Phase 1 of this review with a seat on the MLU Review Board. We took along over 300 pieces of feedback that we have received from services users.

Summary
As part of this patient representation work we were able to run a short initial analysis on some of the data from the survey undertaken by the Oswestry Maternity Group. We thought that a useful place to start would be the data around choice of birthing location and experiences of the postnatal care system.
Key Findings
- 75.3% of mothers at the time of booking chose to have their birth in a Midwife Led Unit
- 69.8% of mothers ultimately gave birth in the Consultant Led Unit in Telford
- 15% of mothers were not offered information about the different units
- 96% of mothers feel that in-patient post natal care is very important or important
